New online post cancer treatment programme
Mayo Cancer Support is very proud to be delivering the much-respected Cancer Thriving and Surviving Programme for the first time over six weeks this Spring.
Delivered in association with the National Cancer Control Programme, Cancer Thriving and Surviving is a 6-week, peer-led, self-management workshop developed by Stanford University for cancer survivors and those with long-term maintenance needs.
It focuses on enhancing quality of life through skills for managing your health and emotional wellbeing as you progress onwards from treatment.
The programme is geared at individuals who have finished cancer treatment (survivors who are 3+ months post-treatment) or are living with long-term, advanced cancer.
The programme is free of charge to participants and will be delivered online by Mayo Cancer Support Association every Tuesday morning from 10am to 12.30pm from Tuesday, March 24th until Tuesday, April 28th
The core topics covered will include:
Emotional Well-being: Dealing with fear of recurrence, anxiety, and frustration.
Physical Health: Managing fatigue, pain, sleep issues, and improving nutrition.
Practical Skills: Action-planning, decision-making, and communication with health professionals.
Lifestyle: Rebuilding physical stamina and exercising safely.
Support & Community: They provide a space to build relationships, share successes, and live well with or beyond a diagnosis.
